It serves as a convenient transport hub for travel to Cat Ba Island and Ha Long Bay, offering tourists an authentic atmosphere without the crowds of travelers. The fastest way to arrive in the region is to use a flight to Cat Bi International Airport (HPH). It is located just a few kilometers from the city center, making arrival as comfortable as possible. If a direct flight is unavailable, travelers often choose flights to neighboring major hubs followed by a transfer. The closest alternatives are airports in the cities of Ha Long (about 40 km) and Hanoi (about 91 km). A flight via the city of Thanh Hoa, located slightly further away, is also an option.

Unlike some other resort areas, you can reach Hai Phong by train, as there is an active railway station located in the city center. This is a scenic and atmospheric way to travel, allowing you to see the country's rural landscapes from the train window.

Daily passenger trains run from the capital, Hanoi (Long Bien station or the main station). The trip takes about 2.5–3 hours and concludes at the historical Hai Phong station, which is a landmark of the colonial era in its own right.

There is also an opportunity to get there from more distant provinces. For example, a trip from the city of Thanh Hoa (a distance of more than 280 km) will take about 6–7 hours. On such long routes in Vietnam, buses with sleeping places (sleeping buses) often run, which makes the journey less tiring.

Traveling by car is one of the fastest and most convenient ways to visit Hai Phong thanks to modern expressways. The shortest route leads from the city of Ha Long: the distance of 46 km can be covered in less than an hour, enjoying views of the coast.

The road from the capital, Hanoi (about 120 km), usually takes around two hours, making this route ideal for a taxi or transfer. Travelers from Thanh Hoa will spend about 3.5 hours on the road, covering a distance of 241 km.

2. Urban transport. For moving around the city, it is most convenient and safest to use taxi-hailing apps (for example, Grab). This will save you from the need to haggle and explain addresses with gestures.
3. Finances. The official currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Cards are accepted in hotels and large stores, but for markets and street cafes, be sure to carry cash.
4. Health. Do not drink tap water; buy only bottled water. Pharmacies are common, but it is better to bring specific medications with you from home.
