The fastest way to be in the city is to take a flight to the local University Park Airport (SCE). This modern aviation hub accepts regular flights and is conveniently located just a few minutes' drive from the campus and central streets.

Alternatively, you can consider a flight to neighboring cities followed by a transfer. The nearest options are airports in the cities of Altoona, Williamsport, or DuBois, from where it is easy to continue the journey by ground transport.

There is no railway station in State College itself, so train lovers will have to plan a composite route. Traveling by rail involves arriving at one of the nearest stations followed by a transfer to a bus or taxi.

The most convenient point for a transfer is the neighboring city of Altoona, located about 55 km away. Amtrak trains arrive here, allowing you to comfortably get from major metropolises and then cover the remaining distance by road.

Bus service connects State College with many settlements in the region. A trip from the city of Altoona will take only about 1.3 hours, covering a distance of 70 km through picturesque terrain.

Routes from the city of Williamsport are also popular, with a travel time of approximately 2 hours. If you are departing from the city of DuBois, expect to spend about 2.5 hours on the road, enjoying the state's views.

Traveling by car offers freedom of movement and is one of the most popular ways to get to the city. The road from neighboring Altoona will take less than an hour — approximately 0.8 hours to cover the 70 km journey.

The route from Williamsport (about 101 km) will require a little more time — about 1.1 hours behind the wheel. A trip from the city of DuBois will also not be tiring and will take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, making a taxi or car rental an excellent choice.

6. Local etiquette. In the USA, it is customary to leave a tip in restaurants and taxis in the amount of 15–20% of the bill. It is also customary to follow the queue and be polite to service personnel.
7. What to avoid. Strictly follow traffic and parking rules — fines are issued very quickly. Also remember that consuming alcohol on the street (outside of specially designated areas) is prohibited.
8. Additional tip. If you plan a visit during the university football team's home match days, book accommodation several months in advance — the city is overflowing with fans, and hotel prices skyrocket.
